Rhizome Connect brings together fans of BTS, researchers, scholars, music enthusiasts, artists, and professionals across a multitude of interdisciplinary practices for 5 days of an open-access, FREE virtual global conference and convention showcasing and celebrating BTS/ARMY research, fan projects, art, histories, and everything Bangtan. This year, the themes for this online annual ARMY gathering were chosen in the spirit of resilience: Adapt, Hope & Grow. We aim to be a safe space for discussion, connection, and learning within and between ARMY, interdisciplinary creative, and academic communities about a range of topics related to and inspired by BTS.
Rhizome Connect is a project led by the Rhizomatic Revolution Review
Many members of the R3 Journal staff attended the first-ever BTS conference in January 2020 at Kingston University in London and had such an amazing experience that we want to replicate it for everyone. After consulting with Dr. Colette Balmain, who organized that conference, we decided to dive in and bring ARMY together again to provide support for each other during this challenging time.
Our guiding principles are:
While we wish we were hosting in person, this virtual event offers an opportunity for more people to attend and showcase their work, especially if they were unable to make it to the conference in January or finished their work later and have not had a chance to present it. Even if you have presented your work elsewhere, we encourage you to submit it if allowed by your previous commitments. We can’t wait to see what you have to share with us.
We hope to have more events like this in the future.
See you soon!
