Writers from the publication Revolutionaries, along with author and Director of Revolutionaries Wallea Eaglehawk, will explore the concept of “participatory revolutionary.” Eaglehawk coined the term “participatory revolutionary” in 2020 after a year of studying and writing about BTS as revolutionaries. The “revolutionary trajectory” was first explored in Eaglehawk’s book Idol Limerence: The Art of Loving BTS as Phenomena. Now, Eaglehawk has continued to write about what it means to be a revolutionary, how BTS are regarded as “participatory revolutionaries,” and how we, like BTS, are revolutionaries. Elements of BTS’s storytelling will be explored and analysed with Bangtan Universe expert Courtney Lazore. Marinelle Uy will discuss her research around StoryCorps and BTS’s work validating the human experience, as well as how political BTS really are. Samantha Villabert, international relations expert, will show how BTS use their talent and fame as a platform for advocacy. Eaglehawk will facilitate a discussion on the meaning of “revolutionary” and how it uniquely applies to BTS, ARMY, and the rest of the world.
